What is Engineering Physics?
Dr.Srinivas:Engineering Physics is the study of the combined disciplines of physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, and engineering, particularly computer, nuclear, electrical, electronic, aerospace, materials or mechanical engineering. By focusing on the scientific method as a rigorous basis, it seeks ways to apply, design, and develop new solutions in engineering.

What type of knowledge students should have before joining Engineering Physics?
Dr.Srinivas:Students should be familiar with fundamental Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Which is the best institute to pursue Engineering Physics?
Dr.Srinivas:
1. IIT Bombay - Indian Institute of Technology
2. IIST Thiruvananthapuram - Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology
3. IIT Madras - Indian Institute of Technology
4. DTU Delhi - Delhi Technological University
5. IIT Delhi - Indian Institute of Technology
Will a student get job with just engineering degree in Engineering Physics?
Dr.Srinivas:Yes! Areas might include aerospace, biophysics, medical physics, renewable energy (photovoltaics, battery technology, fuel cells, ...), transportation, quantum information science, semiconductors, or materials development. Careers could also include systems engineering, teaching, medicine, law (especially intellectual property or patent law), science writing, history of science, philosophy of science, science policy, energy policy, government, or management in technical fields. The Physics and Engineering Physics majors are great preparation for almost any career, because they teach students how to analyze complex problems and they give students a strong quantitative background that can be applied in any technical field.
Is it compulsory that one should do M .Tech to get a better placement?
Dr.Srinivas:A significant fraction (over half) of both Physics and Engineering Physics majors go on to pursue advanced degrees (Masters or PhD) in engineering or physics. Engineering Physics majors tend to work on forefront ideas in technology and science, in either industry or academia.
After joining Engineering Physics will the students have chance to learn computer courses?
Dr.Srinivas:Yes! Electives are offered.

What type of computer courses one should learn while doing B Tech in Engineering Physics?
Dr.Srinivas:
1. Machine Learning
2. OOPS
3. Database Management Systems
4. Operating Systems
5. Scientific Computing
How difficult is Engineering Physics or is it easy to complete the Engineering Physics?
Dr.Srinivas:Relatively easy if you study regularly and actually understand the material instead of mugging up.
Can girls choose Engineering Physics? What is the scope for the girls who choose Engineering Physics?
Dr.Srinivas:Obviously! A significant fraction (over half) of both Physics and Engineering Physics majors go on to pursue advanced degrees (Masters or PhD) in engineering or physics. Engineering Physics majors tend to work on forefront ideas in technology and science, in either industry or academia and can be of either gender.

What are different career options after Engineering Physics?
Dr.Srinivas:
1. Nuclear Industry.
2. Energy Industry.
3. Medical Industry.
4. Nanotechnology Industry.
5. Optical Engineering.
6. Material Science Industry.
7. Electrical Engineering Industry.
8. Acoustics Industry.
What are the advantages of doing Engineering Physics?
Dr.Srinivas:The fundamental difference between Engineering Physics and other Engineering majors is that in Engineering Physics students study the same advanced physics topics as physics majors -- in particular, at least two quarters of quantum mechanics and at least one quarter of statistical mechanics. Most engineering students (other than engineering physics students) would take these courses only as graduate students (or not at all). An Engineering Physics degree prepares students to work in the private sector or in national laboratories at the very forefront of technology, or to pursue an advanced degree in engineering. An Engineering Physics degree also prepares students to pursue an advanced degree in physics; other engineering majors do not. Industries that need people with very strong scientific backgrounds recognize the Engineering Physics major and what it stands for.
What are the engineering entrance exams for Engineering Physics?
Dr.Srinivas:JEE Mains/JEE Advance
What are job opportunities for the students in India and in abroad after completion of Engineering Physics?
Dr.Srinivas:
1. Nuclear Industry.
2. Energy Industry.
3. Medical Industry.
4. Nanotechnology Industry.
5. Optical Engineering.
6. Material Science Industry.
7. Electrical Engineering Industry.
8. Acoustics Industry.
What subjects will the students study in Engineering Physics?
Dr.Srinivas: Click the link to know more details
What are the higher study options after B. Tech in Engineering Physics?
Dr.Srinivas: M. Tech, MS or PhD
Which is better B. Tech in Physics or B. Sc in Physics?
Dr.Srinivas: B. Tech! The fundamental difference between Engineering Physics and other Engineering majors is that in Engineering Physics students study the same advanced physics topics as physics majors -- in particular, at least two quarters of quantum mechanics and at least one quarter of statistical mechanics.
