My Sankranthi Celebrations at my beautiful homeTown:🤩😎

First of all I am a hosteller, studying far from home, so I was very excited to visit my village for Sankranthi and no words to say that moment🤩. This was my first time traveling alone, nearly two and a half hours from my college city, but once I reached home, I forgot all about the tiredness.
Sankranthi is celebrated very joyfully in my village. For me, it is a festival for farmers, and I feel proud to be part of a farmer’s family. The day is  so special because farmers are happy with the crops they harvested.

Sankranthi is celebrated for three days. The first day is Bhogi. On this day, Everyone wake up early and burn old, useless things in a fire, symbolizing the removal of negative energy and ash on our forehead indicates good to health. However, in my village, we don’t celebrate Bhogi because many years ago, a cat jumped into the fire, and it was taken as a bad sign but sankranthi vibes arrived early.

The second day is Sankranthi, the most important day of the festival. We wake up at 3:30 a.m. and started preparations for puja and for a special ritual called Pasupuputa. In this tradition, turmeric is applied to married women to bring good fortune. My father, brother, and I prepare new clothes and puja items, while my grandmother and my amma cook special dishes like Kalagura for devotees and ancestors(purvikulu). After the prayers, we close the doors, believing that our ancestors come to ate and bless us. Then, we visit the Sangameswara Temple to pray to Lord Shiva. The temple is in hilly area but a peaceful place, and it feels very calm there then we took some photos of my family.

The third day is Kanuma, where we treat animals, like cows and oxen, as gods because they play an important role in our farmer’s life. We wake up at 12:30 a.m. on this day and get ready. We then visit the Appanamma Talli Temple in Pedapadu, near Srikakulam. We go to the temple by walk for some distance , and despite the cold, we feel peaceful and connected. We pray to godess and sacrifices to the goddess. After the devi darshanam and puja , we also offer sheep and hen to the goddess as part of our tradition. one most important thing is that a lot of families like us arrived early at 1:00 clock ,it represents how much they believe in godess ,I felt a beautiful feeling at temple. After the temple visit, we return home. My family members are busy preparing food from the sacrifices, while my brother and I watched a "Sankranthi ki vastunnam "movie, which was really nice.

After some days we went to amma parents house and enjoy a lot with grandpa and grandmother and my cousins 🥳.
This year, we had extra happiness because our gomatha , Lakshmi, gave birth to a male calf, which we call chinna(junnu)🤩 . This made our Sankranthi even more joyful and beautiful.
For me, Sankranthi is not just a festival but an emotion full of memories with family, childhood friends, and villagers. It includes small happy moments like playing with animals, chatting with villagers, and enjoying food together. I hope all of you had a happy Sankranthi too.

Thanking you 😊🤩
