Sri Aurobindo, when asked why he was writing poetry in English and not in Bengali, his mother tongue, replied that English has certain features which suit the nuances of feeling and thought and shortly, there will be globalisation, leading to the unification of all countries. His words proved prophetic today.
In the current globalised scenario, command of English is indispensable. In India, English is being taught as a basic skill of communication, which is required to meet the demands of globalisation. Since Internet revolutionised the ways of communication, it has become more obligatory for job aspirants to focus on improving their communication skills not only to gain employment but in career advancement. Mastery of English lays a strong foundation for a successful career and is the key to success in life.
However, unfortunately, employers / recruiters express their concern that present day job-seekers are not proficient in communication skills, which are of utmost importance for gainful employment.
Hence, there should be a determined drive to improve their practical skills of communication. English language should be on tap to be on top.
